Application for UNITAR Scholarship Award 2008 (Undergraduates only)
With reference to the above, the University would like to announce that the UNITAR
Scholarship Award 2008 is now open for application. These scholarships are opened to:
(i) All existing UNITAR students (Undergraduates only) who achieved a CGPA of 3.50
and above, with a credit load between 36-110 credits.
(ii) Malaysian students only
Students, who are interested in applying for the Scholarships, can obtain the
application form from the Center for Student Affairs Department (attn: En. Mohd Azli
at azli@unitar.edu.my - ext 2039 or Cik Kartini at kartini@unitar.edu.my - ext 7339)
or download it from UNITAR website.
Deadline for application is on 20 October 2008.

Universiti Tun Abdul Razak Latest Partnership with the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF)
July 22, 2008, Kelana Jaya ~ Universiti Tun Abdul Razak formed its latest partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF).
INCEIF which envision to be the knowledge leader in Islamic Finance is the only institution dedicated to Islamic finance and determined to develop graduates through the offering of Chartered Islamic Finance Professional (CIFP), Masters and Ph.D. programmes.
According to the President and Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Datuk Dr. Md. Zabid Hj. Abdul Rashid, the MoU is a great platform for both institutions to work together to increase knowledge and expertise in Islamic Finance for the good operations of the increasingly wide-spread use of Islamic finance in accordance with the Shariah by financial sectors.
'As we are gearing towards becoming the leading institution for higher learning education in the region, this collaboration is timely with our goal to promote internationalisation through cooperation, collaborative networks and strategic alliances with focused partners,' he said after the signing ceremony of the MoU at INCEIF's campus in Kuala Lumpur.
Prof. Zabid further mentioned that the two institutions acknowledge the need to establish a framework to facilitate mutual and joint cooperation in promoting and undertaking research, development, training and education in Islamic finance.
Further collaborations instituted under the MOU include exchange programmes between the University and INCEIF, joint research and publication in Islamic finance, joint organisation of conferences, workshops, seminars and provision of learning and research facilities between the two institutions.
The MoU was signed by Prof. Datuk Dr. Md. Zabid Hj. Abdul Rashid and INCEIF's President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Agil Natt. The ceremony was witnessed by the University's Deputy President (Academic and Research), Prof. Dato' Dr. Mohamed Mahyuddin Mohamed Dahan and INCEIF's Chief Operating Officer, Mr Razali Mahfar.
The auspicious signing ceremony was also attended by INCEIF's Governing Council, members of the Professional Development Panel and senior staff. Also present during the ceremony were the University's management committee and Deans of faculties.

Universiti Tun Abdul Razak Spreads its Wings in China
In another historic milestone, Universiti Tun Abdul Razak has recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with two different reputable institutions in China during a four days working visit to the country. The first MOU was signed between Universiti Tun Abdul Razak with the Hebei Normal University (HNU) on 24 July 2008 at the HNU's campus which is located in the district of Shijiazhuang, Hebei. Signing on behalf of the University was Prof. Datuk Dr. Md. Zabid Hj. Abdul Rashid, President and Vice Chancellor, while signing on behalf of the other institution was Mr. Zhou Youlin, Vice President of HNU. The major content of the MOU would be the agreement between both institutions in establishing Confucius Institute in Malaysia under Universiti Tun Abdul Razak.
Confucius Institute is a non-profit public institute which aims at promoting Chinese language, culture and supporting local Chinese teaching internationally through affiliated Confucius Institutes . As of July 2008, there are 260 Confucius Institutes in over 70 countries and regions with the most recent opening was at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida (March 2008). In the MOU, both institutions has also agreed to enhance and improve the mutual development and long term cooperation between the universities through friendly partnership which among others will focus on promoting exchange visits by academician and students. There will also be an educational cooperation which will see students form China undergoing English preparatory course in HNU before furthering their study in Universiti Tun Abdul Razak. Different models of the preparatory courses will be developed for programmes being offered by the University.
On 26 July 2008 , another MOU was signed between Universiti Tun Abdul Razak with the Northern Institute of Business Management (NIBM), Beijing , China . Signing for NIBM was its President, Mr. Lu Chengjiao, while Prof. Zabid signed for the University.
